So, I’ve finally gotten around to reading more books from tiktok and as we know it’s always hit or miss. However, these were all a hit!
Psycho Shifters (Cruel Alphaverse #1)

This is a dark paranormal reverse harem bully romance. Not for the faint of heart – this story is about three psycho alpha shifters and the girl who stands her ground.
Now this is what I want when I need a brain break from heavier reads/work/life. The premise and world-building are enough to keep you reading—and yes, there are some plot holes, but overall I read it in one night and immediately downloaded the next book. Only a one in spiciness because the first book was mainly sexual tension. However, there was some M/M that definitely took me by surprise as I did not read the warnings/triggers. So, if you have any definitely check before you start this one. Also, big plot twist and cliffhanger at the end of this one!

The second book in this series is unfortunately not as good. However, it’s not terrible by any means. The amount of cringy one-liners that I think only a millennial moonlighting as a GENz would actually write increases significantly in the second book and so, therefore, did my second-hand embarrassment. However, the cliff hanger at the end of this one was sooo good, so I’m very excited for the next book to come out.

I already have a full review of this book you can check out, but I was convinced to read it by, of course, tiktok. Usually, my feed only recommends me adult content…I wonder why…and while this certainly has some spice, this is a modern fantasy with strong dark academia vibes and heavy emphasis on character development. I would recommend this book to those who often read Science Fiction but are hesitant to dive into fantasy.
It Ends With Us
Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up — she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.
Arguably one of the most popular books of the moment, I came to this book after unsuccessfully trying to try Hoover’s Ugly Love. This novel, however, kept my attention the whole time and quickly had me rooting for Lily. While the novel is spot-on contemporary romance tone, it’s more talked about for its discussion of abusive relationships. While the book’s tone and length make it hard for Hoover to be thorough, I thought the subjects were treated with compassion and empathy, and at the end of the day, I don’t ask for much more from my books.
