Den of Vipers Book Review: WTF??

I think booktok is just doing me dirty at this point, because how is this book popular?

This one was talked about a lot, so I had semi-high expectations.

But when I started it…I shit you not, I didn’t think I was going to be able to get through the first chapter.

Here are some of personal favorite quotes from the first chapter…JUST THE FIRST.

“We do have a few legit businesses, not that I have anything to do with them. I was deemed too insane to deal with employees after I burned one of their eyes out for calling me scum.”

“He knows what I am—death. Ryder might be the face, Garret might be the enforcer, the muscle, and Kenzo the dealer…but me? I’m the fucking Grim Reaper.”

“Leaning forward, I press my lips near the man’s ear. ‘I’ll let you know if she comes before or after I slice her neck,’ I whisper, before lunging forward and biting off his earlobe.”

I hope you cringed too.

I literally haven’t even gotten to the smut of this book yet but I don’t think I can finish. If I wanted to read poorly written weird torture smut I would go back to wattpad. I mean, this has to be self-published because I simply refuse to believe that any publishing company would read this and be like yeah lets go with this one. I’d love to be a fly on the wall of that publishing meeting.

The cover literally says international bestselling author?? If this is the new standard for books, then my dyslexic ass is querying the fanficition I wrote in middle school. Don’t get me wrong—I like reading fucked up shit, to a certain extent, but this THIS was written by an entirely too fucked-up thirteen-year-old and you cannot convince me otherwise.
