There are a few unusual things about Cafe Goyo. Number one, their coffee sucks. Number two, their customers never order off the menu. And number three, Yohan, the cafe manager, is deaf. So when Soohwa joins as a part-timer, though he is not expected to learn how to make good coffee, he is asked to expand his sign language vocabulary beyond the words, “higher,” “pay,” and “please.” But when Yohan offers to give him private lessons, Soohwa is reluctant. Not because he doesn’t want to study, but because he has a “hard” time around Yohan. Like, literally. He gets hard. Whenever he hears Yohan’s deep, sexy voice. 3rd Lezhin Comics World Comic Contest Winner.

If you haven’t already noticed, I am stingy with the 5 star reviews—but I absolutely adored this webtoon.

I can’t speak to the accuracy of the signs in this webtoon because I’m not familiar with Korean sign language. However, the creator did a great job of drawing them out.

SIDENOTE: I recommend everyone learn a few basic signs such as ‘thank you’ and ‘have a good day’—it is not hard and can be a very nice gesture when a deaf customer comes in to make them feel welcome.

I loved both the main characters which is odd because I usually always have a favorite. The plotline that Soohwa gets turned on every time he hears Yohan’s voice and Yohan gets turned on when Soohwa signs is just…chefs kiss 💅. Now, this is rated R on Lezhin which usually means minimal plot and mostly smut—and yes, I would’ve loved more of a plot for this webtoon, but what we did get checked all the boxes for me. The dorky relationship dynamic, the size difference, the appropriate ages, & the little hurt/comfort plotline toward the middle & end 😍.

I don’t have too much to say about this webtoon without spoiling anything because it was a pretty light read and very wholesome (kinda). Let me know if you felt the same way..please…I need more people to talk to who like webtoons.
